![]() While working together, Galen and Lyra fell in love and were married six months later on the planet Coruscant in 25 BBY. Her expert knowledge of the cave system led to her being picked by Galen as his guide while he studied the crystals. Lyra headed a survey team that discovered an intricate cave system and found crystals unique to the planet. Lyra met Galen Erso at the age of 21, when she worked as a guide for Galen's team of scientists studying crystals on the planet Espinar. ![]() Lyra met her future husband Galen on Espinar. As a child, Lyra became friends with Nari Sable. Lyra's mother had to take out loans to fund her education, which Lyra later paid back from a job providing HoloNet footage. She grew up as an only child and studied at the University of Rudrig in 29 BBY. ![]() Lyra Erso was born on Aria Prime in 47 BBY. With Rogue One's sacrifice, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin ordered the Death Star to fire at Scarif, wiping out Rogue One and all Imperial forces present, including Krennic, proving Lyra's final words correct. Years later, Jyn became part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and stole plans to the Death Star battle station, Krennic's achievement. Lyra was killed by a death trooper when she threatened Krennic with a blaster. Four years later, Krennic and a squad of death troopers found the Erso family, and attempted to bring them all back to Coruscant. Over the course of several years, Lyra became suspicious of Krennic's motivations for saving her family, and was able to persuade Galen to abandon his research into kyber crystals and flee Coruscant for Lah'mu with the help of Saw Gerrera. Krennic convinced Galen to continue his study in kyber crystals, and secretly used Galen's research in order to weaponize the crystals for use in the Death Star. The three were rescued by Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic, an old friend of her husband and a member of Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine's top secret Death Star project. While in confinement, Lyra gave birth to their daughter, Jyn. During the Clone Wars, Galen was arrested while researching kyber crystals on Vallt and charged with espionage by Confederate loyalists. Lyra Erso was the human female wife of the scientist Galen Erso. The series is a tapestry of disparate perspectives, and bringing Jyn’s voice to the story can only add new dimensions to Andor, making it the perfect spot for her to return." Jyn, trust the Force." ―Lyra Erso to her daughter Jyn Erso But Andor is all about telling the story of the Rebellion, and not just through Cassian’s viewpoint. Jyn doesn’t have to appear in Andor: the series is strongest when it ignores its connection to other Star Wars stories, even Rogue One. According to Gilroy, Season 2 will culminate in a three-episode block that covers “the last three days before Rogue One.” Whether that means we’ll see Melshi head off to free Jyn from Imperial imprisonment, or see Cassian collecting surveillance on Jyn’s father, Galen (Mads Mikkelsen), the stage is set for a Rogue One reunion. And a Jyn Erso cameo seems all the more plausible given Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy’s comments in the latest issue of Empire. Jones’ comments seem definitive, but after watching countless stars lie about casting rumors over the years - including Star Wars alum Ewan McGregor - it’s hard to take her statement at face value. I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. Speaking on BBC One’s The One Show, Jones denied she’d play any role in Andor Season 2: “I'm afraid to say I won't be. Squeezing Jyn into Andor’s first season would have been too much of a stretch, but Season 2 will take us straight into the events of Rogue One, which makes a Jyn appearance inevitable, right? Well. Could Felicity Jones reprise her role as Jyn Erso in Andor? Lucasfilmįelicity Jones has always been game to return as Jyn Erso, though conditions have never been quite right.
